From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Racine - The Racine County Board is offering its support of a plan to extend commuter rail from Kenosha to Milwaukee.
The board voted 19-4 Tuesday night to urge the state to take action on the plan and to agree that the operating costs of extending commuter rail be funded by a $13 rental car tax increase in the three-county area. Voting against the resolution were Supervisors Kenneth Lumpkin, Jeff Halbach, Thomas Pringle and Mike Dawson.
County Board Chairman Michael Miklasevich said today there was strong public support at Tuesday's meeting for the KRM proposal.
"It's going to have a great economic impact on the area," Miklasevich said. "And it will not have sales tax implication for residents. If it does half as good as what they are saying it's going to do, it will be beneficial to the area."
