I rather enjoyed this quote from the article:

After one supermarket went bankrupt, Wal-Mart was the only food store in Pass Christian, pop. 6,758. "We didn't have shoe stores, clothing stores," says Malcolm Jones, chief administrative assistant to the mayor.

Who's fault is that Mr. Jones? I'll give you a hint, Wal-Mart didn't hold a gun to the heads of the people in Pass Christian to make them shop at Wal-Mart.

I don't think Mr. Jones was being critical of Wal-Mart. I think he was actually happy to see that Wal-Mart would now be selling shoes and clothes in a town that previously had no shoes and clothes shops.

It's a sort of sloppily written piece.
