Are they really "friends of Tom Taylor" if they still haven't told him that - of all words - "government" has been misspelled on his re-election web site for weeks?
Oops ...

Likewise I hope the folks at Middleton Hills read blueprints more closely than their website, which says the development is "eight miles from the State Capital in Madison."

"Likewise I hope the folks at Middleton Hills read blueprints more closely than their website, which says the development is 'eight miles from the State Capital in Madison.'"
But, see, it has to be IRONIC to be noteworthy.
Some Middleton Hills marketing typist stumbled by adding "... in Madison." The building is "capitol," and the city is "capital." Ha ha.
But should "blueprint readers" know about line editing their copy? No appreciable irony there - - certainly not in the league a candidate for local office misspelling "government."
Plus, you KNOW Taylor has polled his friends: "Did you see my site? What did you think of it? Does it read well?"
"Excellent! Great! Wouldn't change a thing!"
Hence the title: "With friends like these..."

Unless it can be discounted as just "marketing" copy, the MH site's description of one of the available architectural styles begins, ironically, "Artful attention and care are given to all elements, inside and out...."

Um... just not as amusing. Sorry.
I know too many near-illiterate marketing suits to expect better web copy from PR typists.
Not to mention the fact that a great percentage of people who saw your original comment probably thought you were pointing out incorrect mileage between Madison and Middleton Hills. ("EIGHT miles? HA! Try seven-and-a-half!")

"I know too many near-illiterate marketing suits to expect better web copy from PR typists."
Suits who are then selected to market to the discerning home buyer? Maybe MH needs a Vance Packard Drive to go with Frank Lloyd Wright Avenue and Diversity Road.

Why do I get the feeling that a bully with the last name "Middleton" picked on you as a child, Terrence :)

Along those lines, Middleton Hills sounds like the name of an Omega in "Animal House". That might be a selling point among UW grads of a certain age.
