Economic Development Meeting tonight at 6pm. After the last meeting lasted a mere 9 minutes, I decided it was time to get a bit more proactive.
Well, actually a lot more proactive; I have seven items on the agenda (you can download the EDC agenda and meeting packet here: Download EDC_Meeting_Packet_4-27-09.)
One item in particular will be discussed in much greater detail as the ball gets rolling:
John,
I noticed "Member Michlig" was quite a contributor on the agenda while I was looking it over yesterday. I was sorry I couldn't attend but will be looking forward to your accounting of the meeting.
I'm sure it was unlike any before seen by the EDC. And you were looking to be on the Plan Commission? Hmpf.

I have to credit Chairman Skowronski for allowing so many "nonstandard" items on the agenda for discussion.
That said, I have to say that I have a LOT of work to do; it's one thing to disagree with me regarding impending transit issues and the economic benefits of smart growth, but I was facing some IDEOLOGICAL objections that had nothing to do with reality.
More on that in a later post today...
